CCCI to elect new officers, bares official candidates

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold its annual election of officers on February 27, 2015 at Hotel Elizabeth.

There are nine open positions to be filled in this year’s election of the CCCI’s Board of Trustees. Two are needed in the Industry sector, three for Trade, three for Service and one for Sectoral.

To run for any of the respective positions, one must be a bona fide member of CCCI in good standing meaning that members with accounts incurred on or before December 31, 2014 and which remain unpaid as of 5:00 pm of February 26, 2015 will not be allowed to run or be voted upon for the CCCI Election of Trustees. The same goes with those who will vote, only members in good standing are allowed to vote.

Those who are running for election are required t o pay t heir annual dues for 2015 and all other prior assessment­s on or before 12: 00 noon of January23, 2015.

Voting will be done by secret ballot. The official or alternate representa­tive of members i n good standing will only be qualified voter for the election. Deadline of submission of ballots at CCCI office will be on or before 6: 00 pm of February 23, 2015.

For l ost ballots, replacemen­t will be granted by t he CCCI Commission on Election only upon receipt of a formal written request for such action on or before 12: 00 noon of February 27, 2015.

Opening of t he ballots will be at 2: 01 pm on February 27, 2015 wherein i t will be validated and authentica­ted at the same time by the members of the CCCI COMELEC. Canvassing will also be administer­ed by the COMELEC in the presence of designated external auditing representa­tives.

The proclamati­on of the winning candidates will be done by the CCCI COMELEC immediatel­y after t he ballots are counted and the results certified by the External auditors.

The official candidates qualified to run for election per sector for the 2015 Elections of CCCI’s Board of Trustees are: Teodoro Locson Jr. of Philmetal Products, Inc. and Enrison Benedicto of Mabuhay Filcement, Inc. for the Industry sector.

Trade sector: Christian Paro- an of RC Goldline Sale Shop; Robinson Uy of La Nueva Drugstore Chains, Inc.; and Melanie Ng of Ng Khai Developmen­t Corporatio­n.

Service sector: Atty. Tomas Riveral of OPASCOR; Elsie Tagupa of Land Bank of t he Philippine­s; Remedios Marie Esparcia of MCRI Global Corporatio­n; Jimmy Wu of Graphicsta­r Imaging Corporatio­n; Jerry Tan Uy of Ocean Transport Group of Companies, Inc.; and Fr. Dionisio Miranda of the University of San Carlos.

Nimrod Quiñones of the Philippine Society for Industrial Security (PSIS 7) is running for the Sectoral/ Associatio­n sector.
