At least P1.5 million worth of shabu was seized by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office in a buy-bust operation Thursday in Barangay Estaca, Compostela town.

Senior Inspector Leo Logroño, deputy chief of PIB, identified the suspect as Glenn Obdamin, a resident of Sabang, Danao City, who is reportedly a level-two drug pusher.

Obdamin can reportedly dispose of 25 grams per day.

Logroño said Obdamin kept on hiding after President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office. The suspect reportedly did not return home and usually stayed in beach resorts, he added.

The buy-bust operation was done in a resort in Barangay Estaca. During the interrogation, Obdamin disclosed that he got his supply from Cebu City.

"Gihagbong ra daw ni sa Cebu City, gikan ang supply sa Manila. Naa siyay gi-disclose nga names pero nagtuo mi nga nicknames kay dili familiar," he said.

The operatives were able to confiscate 11 medium-size packs and three large packs believed to contain shabu with an estimated weight of 130 grams. The seized drugs had an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1,534,000.

Meanwhile, a man in Cebu City who eluded arrest for selling dangerous drugs worth over a million in March this year will now have to answer criminal charges before a trial court.

This after the Cebu City Prosecutor's Office found sufficient grounds to hold Jerome Nabua, also known as "Pahak," for trial for violation of Section 5 of the RepublicAct 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The law prohibits the "sale, trade, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential Chemicals."

If found guilty, a person charged will be sentenced with life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10,000,000.

The prosecution recommended no bond for Nabua since the offense charged is non-bailable.

Nabua, who is still at-large, did not file a counter-affidavit to refute the allegation.

"Culled from the uncontroverted evidence of the raiding team police officers, it can be gleaned that a probable cause exists to indict respondent (Nabua) for trial of the crime charged," read part of the prosecutor's office resolution.

Nabua was the subject of the buybust operation last March 16 in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

The operation stemmed from a report of an informant about the ongoing drug peddling activity in the area involving Nabua.

Police verified the said illegal operation with a large pack of shabu being sold at P80,000 each. This prompted the police to conduct the buy-bust operation.

After the transaction was consummated between the poseur-buyer and Nabua, along with his alleged cohort, Jupert Padillo Benolirao, the police then swooped down to arrest the suspects, but Nabua reportedly resisted which resulted to a scuffle between them and a police officer.

Nabua got the chance to run away towards a dark area, leaving his cohort who was arrested by the police.

The operation yielded a total of 48.1 grams of shabu.
