Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has ordered the city's new police chief, Superintendent Aileen Recla, to intensify the campaign against the illegal drugs.

This despite Gullas' resentment over Recla's appointment as replacement of Talisay City police chief Germano Mallari, who has been reassigned to the Bogo City Police office.

Gullas expressed his disappointment during the turnover of command last Thursday attended by Cebu Provincial Police Office director Senior Superintendent Jose Macanas, together with Mallari and Recla.

"I am always consistent as a lawyer, I always maintain that we should have the rule of law. Mayors can have an option to choose from three. I resent it, but I have to accept because of the order, I just want you to know you are violating the law," he said.

Macanas explained to Gullas though that Recla will only serve as officer-in-charge for a month in the city and after that, the mayor can freely choose who will be his next police chief.

With this, Gullas told Recla that if she catches big time drug personalities in the city, he will include her as one of his choices as police chief of Talisay.

Before the major reshuffling, Gullas expressed his opposition to the PNP's decision to immediately replace their chief of police without consulting the mayor since it is a violation of the law.

Meanwhile, three out of five police station commanders under the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office were relieved from their posts following the revamp order of PRO-7.

This was confirmed by Mayor Paz Radaza in her recent news conference.

Radaza said even if the three police station chiefs were transferred to other police stations, the city government will still pour support to the new police station leaders.

The three new police station commanders in the city are Police Senior Inspectors Percival Miasco, Jimmy Fortes and Felix Cleopas.

Miasco is the new chief of Olango Police Station; Fortes for Marigondon Police Station; and Cleopas for the Mactan Police Station. The new police station chiefs replaced Police Senior Inspector Aldrin Villacampa, Senior Inspector Alcon Escosura and Chief Inspector Conrado Manatad, respectively.

Police Senior Inspector Wayne Magbanua of Pusok Police Station and Police Senior Inspect Jaime Tolentino of Gun-ob Police Station will retain their posts.

Radaza also said she has spoken with the new LCPO chief, Police Senior Superintendent Rommel Cabagnot.

"Yes, we already talked with Colonel Cabagnot. We talked about city's programs and campaign against illegal drugs. I told him that the police should double their effort in fighting crimes," Radaza said.
