The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is setting aside at least P6 million to P7 million budget for this year's Mandaue Business Month (MBM 2016).

MBM, a month-long activity to showcase different events and advocacies of the Mandaue business sector, was launched last week at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel led by the newly elected president Glenn O. Soco.

This year's MBM chairman Steven A. Yu said the chamber will have to request for monetary support from both Mandaue City government and the Cebu Provincial office.

Aside from its usual series of events, which are geared towards strengthening the camaraderie among businessmen in the city, the chamber is also preparing events, series of for a focused and aligned with this year's theme dubbed "Bold Moves; New Frontiers."

Yu said local businesses should be rewarned once again to be constantly conscious and be prepared to play in the new business environment, which is largely brought about by technology, new market paradigm, regional integration, and the profound effects of globalization to the homegrown businesses.

Likewise, the business group will also intensity existing programs such as the WINNERS (Women in Need Now Entreprenuers and Role Models"), Obra Negosyo, and the Cebu Business Upliftment program (CEBU), among others to further empower the lower spectrum of business community.

MCCI is poised to champion its thrust in empowering the micro business players, including those who are making a living trading in the sidewalk, wet markets, or in their backyards.

Its flagship key event, the "MCCI Business Summit," to be held on August 10 at the Oakridge Pavilion, on A.S. Fortuna Street, in Mandaue City will bring together diverse experts in business and leadership fields to talk about pressing concerns, as well as opportunities in the unconventional business environment.

The Summit will bring in urban planner architect Felino "Jun" Palafox, inspirational speaker Francis Kong, marketing guru Jonathan Petalver and economist Ronald Mendoza, to speak on crucial issues and opportunities now faced by the business sector.

On August 11, MBM will also hold a "Transformational Sales Leadership" seminar, to be followed by Logistics and Supply Chain seminar set on August 25.

MBM is MCCIs flagship program. Held every August, the event is composed of a series of events and projects geared towards promoting sustainable and socially-responsible entrepreneurship, as it is helping Mandaue City's positioning to be an attractive destination for business and investment.
