Central Visayas police performed well, but…

Police Regional Office-7 performed well as per evaluation by Camp Crame, but such accomplishment is not enough for its top official.

Chief Superintendent Noli Taliño, director of PRO-7, said the police force in Central Visayas still needs to improve.

"Hindi naman tayo nahuhuli. In fact, nasa upper bracket tayo. (But) kailangan pa rin mag-improve. Ako nga parang nakukulangan pa rin ako. Gusto ko madagdagan ang accomplishments, so parang kulang pa," he said.

Chief Supt. Nestor Bergonia, directorate for operation of the National Operations Center in Camp Crame, was in Cebu on Wednesday and Thursday to assess the accomplishments of PRO-7 on Oplan Tokhang and Oplan Double Barrel.

Taliño said he constantly reminds the provincial and city police directors to double or even triple their efforts against criminality, especially on the campaign against illegal drugs.

So far, he said, the provincial and city directors are performing well in their job, but the police station chiefs, on the other hand, are not.

With this, the PRO-7 director said he is giving full authority to the provincial and city directors to relieve station chiefs under them who are non-performing.

Meanwhile, Taliño said over 71,000 drug pushers and users have surrendered to the police in the region.

He said that from July to August 24 this year, at least 73 drug personalities have been killed during police operations while 97 were killed by unknown assailants, which the police are now investigating.
