Sorongon, Piscos top Cebu Founding Anniversar­y Run

Veteran long distance runner Ruffa Sorongon and Rafael Piscos dominated their respective divisions of the first Cebu Province Founding Anniversar­y Run yesterday at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.

Sorongon added another title in her roster of achievemen­ts after winning the 20K women’s open. Lizane Abella occupied the second place followed by Marivic Mari.

In the men’s side, Piscos reigned supreme as Prince Joey Lee settled for second, while Jayson Agravante came in third.

Sorongon and Piscos pocketed P10,000 for their efforts. The second and third placers received P7,000 and P5,000, respective­ly.

Ariel Saballa grabbed the 10K men’s title, while Crisabel Cadion was crowned as champion in the distaff side.

Saballa was followed by Davao City’s Elmer Bartolo and Michael Largo, while completing the top three finishers in the 10K women’s were sisters Cherry and Lovely Andrin.

In the 5K grassroots men’s division, Raffy Lugay snatched the title. Lexus Mancera wound up second while Dan Rey Baquin finished third.

Mary Joy Loberanis of University of San CarlosBED ruled the women’s bracket followed by Catherine Angeli Yu and Rosemarie Tumamak.

Nyko Archival stole part of the limelight by lording it over in the 3K grassroots men’s category, while Charity Binolarao took the women’s title.—
