Pinoy-made Voltes V game rocks Android phones

A mobile video game made by a Makati-based tech company is now all the rage among anime fans.

The reason is because the “freemium” game is based on the ultra-popular anime robot series, Voltes V. Created by mobile app developer Xurpas, the game is reminiscent of the classic scrolling shooting game, Raiden.

The Voltes V game finds Steve Armstrong (the player) searching for the rest of the Voltes team (Mark, Big Bert, Jaime and Little John) in his bid to save the earth from the villainous Prince Zardoz and the rest of the Boazanian army. Along the way, Steve needs to battle Boazanian minions and navigate his way towards his teammates. After rescuing the rest of the team, it’s time to come together and volt in as the super robot Voltes V.

While using Voltes V’s signature moves to defeat the Boazanian beastfighter, Steve can also collect coins and upgrade Voltes V team’s weapons. There is also a mysterious crate that lets the player win a surprise. And, of course, there’s that familiar Voltes V theme music.

Updated last September 26, it is available for Android users with the Kitkat operating system and at least 1GB RAM. The game currently has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars among gamers.

Xurpas is a consumer-tech company that produces digital goods for the mobile consumer. Based in Makati City, it is also the parent company of Altitude Games and the Philippines’ first celebrity-branded mobile games, Xeleb Inc.

Coincidentally, the game’s arrival came at about the same time as the announcement of internet TV service iFlix that all episodes of the show “Voltes V,” as well as other anime series like “Daimos,” “Hunter X Hunter,” “Fairy Tale” and “Tenjo Tenge,” are now finally available for viewing both online and offline.

The deal was announced last June and made possible in agreement with Telesuccess Production, Inc. These anime titles will further enhance iFlix’s already extensive library of entertainment offerings. All the shows are offered in their original TagalogActress dubbed format. “Voltes V,” however, is also accessible in its English-dubbed version.

iflix Philippines content head, Karen Zabaljauregui, commented: “iflix is committed to bringing our Filipino members a wide variety of the best entertainment available. Iconic Anime series like Voltes V and Daimos have been huge fan favorites from the moment they first aired. Having them both available on iflix along with a selection of other popular titles is incredibly exciting.”

The iFlix streaming service is priced at only P129 per month in the Philippines for unlimited access with no ads. For new subscribers, iflix offers a complimentary 30day trial with full access to its world-class service, features and content. Go to www.iflix.com to register.–
