5 JOs tested positive for illegal drug use
Five job order employees in the City of Naga tested positive for illegal drug use during a drug test conducted by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) last week.
They were among the 204 city employees subjected to surprise drug test last week along with the municipal employees of Ginatilan, Tabuelan and Dalaguete and the personnel of Pinamungajan District Hospital. Except for them, all other employees were tested negative of the illegal drugs.
CPADAO chief Ivy Durano-Meca said the results of the drug test show that government employees are now more cautious.
"So in that sense mao na nag sige nato og drug test, ang mga tawo sad nato are really alarmed gyud ba whatever consequence if madakpan bitaw sila especially on the LGU na level, it is emphasized already for the drug-free workplace, majority of our LGUs already enacted resolution for the implementation for the drug-free workplace (sic). Makita sad nato nga atong empleyado cautious sad ba nga anytime there will be a random drug testing that will be conducted." Meca said.
She said the anti-drug efforts of local government units have significantly improved.
"So the LGUs are really awakened nga even karon sa atong Sugbo Kontra Droga program we are on the 24th LGU already nga na-conduct-an nato og evaluation. Makita gyud nimo kon unsa ka opposite ang ilahang pagtagad sa tanan anti-drug programs compared of our evaluation last year," Meca said.
Meca said the different LGUs have already passed resolutions implementing the drug-free workplace.
Meanwhile, CPADAO has proposed more or less P18 million budget next year, excluding the allocation for personal services. Meca said the proposed budget might increase since they are still working on the organizational structure of CPADAO.
She said that the bulk of the budget is for the special programs of the office, such as the SUKOD Program, Limpyo Probinsya, implementation of a drugfree workplace or conducting random drug test, and giving rewards and incentives to police personnel for successful anti-drug operations.
