Capitol creates team on juvenile program

-

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has created a project management team that will implement the localized comprehensive national juvenile justice intervention program.

Davide issued Executive Order No. 19 creating the Local Project Management Team that will be composed of the representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Cebu Province as chairman, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office as co-chairman.

The members include the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Provincial Budget Office, Provincial Gender and Development Office, Women and Children Protection Desk, Cebu Provincial Police Office, Children's Legal Bureau, Department of Justice's Witness Protection Program, Children Protection Specialist and Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, National Bureau of Investigation-7, Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, and Department of Education-Cebu Province.

Cebu has been chosen as pilot LGU in the implementation of the Comprehensive National Juvenile Intervention Program through the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council.

The JJWC is an interagency council created under Republic Act 9344 and amended by Republic Act 10630 as lead agency mandated to ensure the effective implementation of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJJIP).

To comply with the mandate, the localization of the Comprehensive National Juvenile Intervention Program must be developed to facilitate an inter-agency collaboration between among the JJWC, DILG and the provincial government.

The collaboration, based on the principle of restorative justice upon which the Comprehensive National Juvenile Intervention Program framework is founded, will help local government units in the province institutionalize a localized process of developing a comprehensive juvenile intervention program through the Comprehensive National Juvenile Intervention Program framework.
