25 Years of Great Filipino Food

It all began in 1979 when a family from Laguna moved to Cebu and the enterprisi­ng mother establishe­d a carenderia called "Mother Best." The only objective was "makakain lang," or simply to be able to provide the family with three square meals a day. The small eatery served Tagalog dishes like Sinigang, Pancit Palabok, Kare-kare, Pandan Chicken, Puto Bumbong and others.

At the time Cebuanos were already more adventurou­s enough to try foods other than their own, unlike back in the 1960's when we were so finicky about food so that fishes like bangus and tilapia were totally rejected. The common
