Garing snares seniors B crown in Consolacion cagefest
Reynaldo Pardillo fired 26 points as Garing outlasted Polog, 73-65, to win the interbarangay seniors category B championship of the 6th Mayor Teresa P. Alegado Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
Henry Villanca chipped in 14 points, while Bimbo Boncales scored 10 for Garing, which dictated the pace of the match from the start.
After taking a 26-23 halftime lead, Garing took full control with 48-38 edge going into the final 10 minutes of the contest. Polog never recovered from there on the way to settle for the first runner-up honors.
Anthony Tura paced Polog with 17 points, while Emmanuel Pepito and Junly Padayogdog had 16 and 12 points, respectively, in a losing cause.
Games of the month-long tournament are under the supervision of commissioner Paul Alelu Q. Flores, a former standout of the FEU Tamaraws alongside PBA superstrar MVP Arwind Santos during their UAAP days.
The overall committee chairman of the event is Liga ng mga Barangay President Roy Linaboc. He is co-chaired by SB members Marilou P. Casul and Benjamin "Boy" Tibon.
Held to spice up the annual fiesta celebration of Consolacion in honor of their beloved patron San Narciso on October 29, the annual spectacle is supported by Consolacion LGU led by Mayor Teresa Alegado and Vice Mayor Dr. Rey Damole along with SB members JoyJoy Alegado, Nelia Ermac, Elenito Palang, Brando Cuizon, Victor Maglasang and Alfie Ouano.—
