Boy drowns while swimming with pals

What was thought to be an enjoyable swimming spree at a nearby river turned out tragic when one of their playmates drowned Friday noon in Barangay Cambang-ug, Toledo City.

Ike Deniel Milan, 10, a resident of Sitio Udlom, Barangay Magdugo, did not reach the hospital alive when rescuers brought him for medical intervention.

Police Officer 3 Carlos Derluado, Desk Officer of the Toledo City Police Station, said that Milan, together with his friends, went swimming at around 11:30 a.m. Friday at Sapangdaku River in Sitio Anislag, Barangay Cambang-ug, Toledo City.

While the group was enjoying, his companions did not notice that the victim already drowned.

"Naay lawom-lawom nga bahin dinha kay kanang kinawtan og bas. Adtong higayuna wala sad nag-uwan," Derluado said.

Derluado added it was at around 1:30 p.m. that the victim's body was found by one of the rescuers at the downstream.

Milan was rushed to the Toledo City Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. —
