The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry is now gearing up for the 2017 Cebu Business Month come June, which it seeks to be more inclusive.

CCCI President Melanie Ng said the chamber wants an increased participation among the various stakeholders in Cebu during the month-long business celebration.

"We ended up 2016 and carry it in 2017 the Cebu Business Month 2017 theme “STEP UP CEBU” (Sustainable Technology, Entrepreneurship & Productivity for the Upliftment of Cebu), a strategic innovation of bringing our businesses at the level of competitive advantage, resilient and sustainable in the global market," Ng said.

CBM 2017's overall chair is Charles Kenneth

"We want the CBM to be inclusive. CBM does not belong to CCCI alone, it is Cebu. So we have to make sure there is inclusive participation among all sectoral organizations, together with government agencies in Cebu.”

In 2016, CBM was chaired by Christian Paroan who adopted the "Digital Cebu" theme which focused on digital transformation of business in an aim to tap the digital-driven global economy.

CBM is the biggest annual event of CCCI, where conferences, trade shows, among other events, are held.

Meanwhile, Ng told businessmen to capture the opportunities that are before them in the present time, with the optimism and even looking forward to more growth this year.

"[Recently] I attended the PEZA Visayas Ecozone Summit whereby more opportunities for growth and development was shared. Soon a Philippine Ecozones Map will be launched and we will make sure potential areas for investment in a Cebu will be highlighted," the chamber official said.

"Let’s continue to actively take up the challenges as we bring Cebu’s economy to the level that it should be. Let’s be persistently relevant as a business organization with a genuine heart to make a difference in the community where we live," she said.

To date, CCCI has a total of 751 members and 29 sectoral members. It inducted 20 new members last Friday.
