Mandaue dad lobbies parking fee ordinance

-

Motorists who opt to park their vehicles in the newly built four-story building fronting Mandaue City Hall would soon be paying parking fees once a proposed ordinance is approved.

This as City Councilor Nilo Seno filed a proposed ordinance setting the rules and regulations to govern the operations and policies for the administration of the parking building.

The parking building, which can accommodate at least 80 vehicles, would give more parking spaces for those who want to transact business at City Hall.

According to the proposed Ordinance No. 20-2017, a committee needs to be created to manage the building. It should be composed of the committees on economic enterprises and assets and properties, the Building Administrator and the City Administrator.

The committee, Seno said would be the one to determine the parking scheme and rates.

He said the expected revenue from the parking fees would be deposited to the Mandaue Parking Building trust fund.

The amount would only be used for the upkeep and maintenance of the parking building, Seno added.

The building’s second and third levels with 18 slots each would be dedicated for the payparking vehicles while the ground floor parking would be set aside for the vehicles of city officials and department heads.

The 21 parking spaces at the roof deck, which could also be used for functions, would be assigned for motorcycles and city-owned vehicles’ parking.

The vacant spaces at the ground floor of the building, on the other hand, would be available for lease.

Seno, however, said businesses allowed to lease the spaces would only be limited to banking, financial institutions and food businesses.

Seno said the lease rates would also be determined by the committee.

He said the Office of the Janitorial Services and Security Unit (JASSU) of the city’s Department of General Services would supervise the parking of vehicles as well as provide security in the building.
