Online hiring in Phl up by 6% in January
Online hiring in the Philippines grew by 6 percent in January versus the same month last year, data released by jobs portal Monster.com revealed Monday, GMA News reported.
"Monster Employment Index Philippines exceeds the year-ago level by six percent," according to the latest Monster Employment Index report.
The Monster Employment Index is a monthly analysis of online job posting activities in the country, based on a real-time review of job opportunities culled from online career outlets.
The business process outsourcing industry remained the top growth industry for the month, growing by 22 percent.
It was followed by the EDQNLQJ ¿QDQFLDO VHUYLFHV and insurance up by 19 percent, logistics by 18 percent, hospitality by 14 percent, and information technology with 12 percent.
Several sectors, however, noted drops in employment — Healthcare down by 2 percent, consumer goods down by 2 percent, and real estate down by 6 percent.
In terms of occupations, the top growth occupations were registered by those in WKH VRIWZDUH ¿HOG XS percent), customer service (17 percent), logistics (12 percent), marketing (6 percent), and human resources (4 percent).
Meanwhile, the employment of workers in the real estate sector fell by 3 percent, hospitality by 4 percent, and health care by 4 percent.
Despite this, employment in the Philippines was still better than its neighboring countries such as Singapore which saw a 2-percent drop in employment, and Malaysia which noted a 2-percent climb.
"As businesses take measures to stride ahead of competition under uncertain market conditions, there will be a need for hybrid candidates who can think strategically and provide hands-on support," Sanjay Modi, Managing Director at Monster.com, said.
"The persistent turbulent economic conditions will also create a demand for professionals in specialized roles such as project management, compliance, and regulatory risk management," he added.
