Teenage sensation Simon Spencer Solon of FDR-Gudmoto sparkled with a double victory in the kick off leg of the FDR Visayas Grand Prix last Sunday at the Hoopsdome in Lapu-Lapu City.

It was a sweet redemption of sort for Solon from a disappointing performance in the Mayor Paz C. Radaza Circuit Race last year at the Mactan Newtown where he went home emptyhanded.

Solon made sure it won't happen again. True enough, he bounced back stronger on the way to dominate the elite and intermediate automatic categories.

Solon, who had the second best time in the time trial, bested LapuLapu’s pride Neil Perino for the elite crown as CRT's Zac Caneda settled for third.

He also won the intermediate class after edging Ricky June Banzon and Silverster Ramirez, who still have something to be happy about after claiming the champion's trophy in the novice underbone.

Ramirez also finished third in the novice automatic won by Ricky June Banzon.

Garry Caneda Jr. retuned to action with a first place finish in the elite underbone while John Paul Lantape placed second and Perino third.

Lantape though got a champion’s trophy through the intermediate underbone while RJ Commendador placed second while another Gudmoto rider Rommel Paz came out third.

The SMDI-SpecV boys Justin Mallari and Jann Eduard Conje also made their presence felt.

Mallari topped the beginners underbone, while Conje got silver in the beginners 115/125 automatic.

Mallari’s sister Chlo took home a runner-up trophy in the ladies underbone won by her teammate at Gudmoto, Jannesse Lucero while Jen Yoseres wound up third.

Yoseres , however, won the Honda one-make race over Lucero as Jonalyn Cajefe placed third.

Insik Inside’s Jareve Yee reigned supreme in the 85-kilogram weight class, while CRT’s Rafael Aquino bagged the special category title.—
