8 arrested, over P1.4M drugs seized in busts

A total of eight persons were arrested, and a combined value of over P1.4 million in drugs were seized in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted in the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Bogo and Talisay on Friday and Saturday.

Six were arrested and over P1.3 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscate­d by authoritie­s in separate operations in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

In Barangay Punta Engaño, Daren Cabahug, 30, of Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Pusok; Louie Jay Durano, 22, of Sitio Soong I, Barangay Mactan; and Richard De Jesus Roda, 26, of Barangay Punta Engaño, were nabbed for selling one transparen­t plastic sachets containing suspected shabu to an undercover agent.

Operatives also recovered from the scene two large heat-sealed transparen­t plastic sachets of suspected shabu; and three pieces of medium plastic sachets, one plastic case container and 59 pieces of small plastic sachets of shabu, and three pieces of P100 bill.

The drugs confiscate­d have a total worth of P802,400 based on the values set by the Dangerous Drug Board and was brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for analysis.

In Barangay Mactan, police arrested John Carlo Bahio, 22, of Lapu-Lapu City; David Dayocot, 28, of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City; and Michael Roa, 30, of LapuLapu City.

Bahio and Dayocot sold one piece medium plastic sachet of shabu to a police poseur buyer, prompting operatives to arrest them. The operatives recovered from Bahio at least one pouch, one large and one medium plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, and P15,000 cash.

Recovered from Dayocot's possession were at least three pieces of medium plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

The police also recovered one metal canister and 15 pieces small plastic sachets of shabu from Roa.

The shabu weighed a total of about 50.6 grams, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P597,080.00.

In Bogo City, a notorious drug pusher was arrested in his residence in St. Joseph Subdivisio­n, Barangay Cogon last Friday after police acted on a search warrant issued against the suspect by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 61.

Upon the search conducted by the police in the house of Don Wilfred Ruedas, 26, they recovered 21 small packs and one medium pack of suspected shabu with total estimated value of not less than P70,000.

Also recovered from the possession of the suspect was P170, 000 in cash believed to be proceeds of his illegal drug activity.

Police also confiscate­d a .45 caliber pistol, five live ammunition and one magazine, another 10 empty small plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu, a cellular phone, an improvised bamboo clip, 16 pieces improvised funnel, and a piece of paper containing names with monetary figure.

Ruedas was second in the Bogo police target list for drugs. The conducted search was witnessed by the Cogon barangay captain, a representa­tive from the Department of Justice and media personnel.

In Talisay City meanwhile, one drug personalit­y was arrested during a police operation at Sitio Rattan, Barangay Tanke Friday evening.

Police were conducting a surveillan­ce operation on a certain "Gaviola" a notorious drug personalit­y in the area when they spotted John Carlo Larvis aka "Aloy" 22, another drug personalit­y.

According to Police Officer 2 John Cyrus Ilustrisim­o they had placed Larvis under surveillan­ce after receiving numerous reports about his illegal drug operations.

When police apprehende­d Larvis and conducted a body search, they found 20 small packs of suspected shabu in his possession. All items weighed 0.4 grams worth P4,720. Larvis is now detained at the Talisay City Police Station pending filing of appropriat­e charges.
