Due to alleged jealousy, a security guard reportedly beat up two brothers in Barangay Pahina-San Nicolas, Cebu City, past midnight yesterday, while a car watcher was stabbed dead by an unknown assailant along Pelaez Street, Barangay Kasambagan, last Friday evening.

Senior Police Officer 1 Wetzel Berry of the Barangay San Nicolas Police Station said Briccio Mongaya Sinangote, 49, of Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, attacked Elizalde Dacles, 28, with a pair of nunchucks around 12:30 a.m. after finding out Elizalde was involved with his former live-in partner Anamae Alicabo.

Sinangote visited Alicabo in the barangay last Friday evening as she celebrated her birthday, but Alicabo kept avoiding the suspect, said Berry.

He waited for several hours for the opportunity to talk to her, but he allegedly overheard talk that Alicabo was now seeing Elizalde, a garbage collector.

Sinangote got mad and waylaid Elizalde and attacked him with the nunchucks, knocking him unconscious. Elizalde's brother, Carl, 26, tried to pacify Sinangote but was also attacked.

He managed to throw a rock at the suspect and stun him.

The residents called the police and the brothers were sent to the Cebu City Medical Center while Sinangote was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. All are in stable condition.

As no formal complaint was filed in their station, police said the incident might have been settled in the barangay.

Meanwhile, Rolando Leoneri, a car watcher who lived along Pelaez Street, was stabbed dead by an unknown assailant around 6:35 p.m., Friday.

Senior Police Officer 2 Rommel Bancog of Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section said the victim was just found already lying bloodied on the street.

Bancog said the motive of the crime might be personal grudge and the victim might have had an argument with the assailant prior to the crime.
