At least two men, including a barangay tanod, were killed in separate drive-by shooting incidents in Consolacion town and Talisay City yesterday.

The suspects in the two incidents remained unidentified as police eyed personal grudge as the motive behind the killings.

In Consolacion, a 50-year-old barangay tanod was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Sitio Lapasan, Barangay Cansaga, Cebu yesterday morning.

Wilson Batucan died instantly after he was shot twice in the head, said Police Officer 1 Macroe Lanurias of Consolacion Police Station.

Based on initial police investigation, Batucan parked his motorcycle near his house after sending a passenger to a nearby school when the lone assailant arrived on board an XRM motorcycle and shot him.

The assailant was wearing a full-faced helmet, said Lanurias. Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells from a .45 caliber pistol.

Police said the death of Batucan might be caused by a personal grudge since he had been active in helping the police in their campaign against illegal drugs in the barangay.

Lanurias said Batucan was the father of the seven-year-old child who died after being hit by a stray bullet while watching a television in their own house last December 3.

Police are doing a follow-up investigation for the possible arrest of the suspect.

In Talisay City, a man was killed in a shooting incident in Sitio Mananga 2, Barangay Tabunok yesterday.

The victim was identified as Roque Dula, 50, a resident of Sitio Mananga 2.

Initial investigation revealed that Dula, who had come from Tabunok Public Market, was shot by an unidentified person riding a motorcycle. He was hit in the head.

The suspect immediately fled after the shooting while Dula was rushed to Minglanilla District Hospital but did not make it there alive.

Police Officer 2 John Cyrus Illustrisimo of Talisay Police Station said the suspect seemed to have planned the location of the shooting.

According to Illustrisimo, the motive of the crime could be personal grudge because of the victim's business.

“Kaning biktima, naa mi nadawat nga info mamalit og kinawat nga mga butang,” Illustrisimo said.

But police said they do not have any record of Dula being involved in any illegal activity.

Further investigation will be conducted by police for the possible arrest of the suspect.
