With a vision to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, economic activity, traditional friendship and common development with the Philippines in the new era, the Fujian (China) Week celebration opened last March 24 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City.

The event was graced by the officers of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) led by President Melanie C. Ng as well

as local government officials, private and business sector representatives, and other distinguished guests.

The Fujian delegation was composed of government officials and businessmen.

There were also representatives from the neighboring provinces of Fujian in China.

The celebration aimed to create opportunities for Fujian and the Philippines to deepen their ties.

The over 30 entrepreneurs that were part of the Fujian delegation sought business opportunities in the Philippines in fields of energy, machinery, shipbuilding, building materials, construction, tourism, airlines, online education and platform, footwear, garments, and tea among others.

The guests at the activity were treated to a display of Chinese calligraphy featuring the works of Yu Guiolian as well as a painting exhibition and tea tasting.

Fujian Province initiated the activity due to the fact that their economy and that of ours are complementary and it hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Philippines and other ASEAN countries through trade, connectivity, and industrial capacity.

Through the business matching activity in the Fujian (China) Week, the province hopes that more Philippine companies will do business with them.

Aside from the excellent ecological and business climate of Fujian Province, the entry of Xiamen Air providing more direct flights from China to Cebu is one of the reasons that can spur more business and tourism.
