The growth of the University of the PhilippinesCebu reached another milestone yesterday as it inaugurated the School of Management into a college status with a new two-storey building.

The newly inaugurated building of the College of Management has an open deck on top.

College of Management Dean Dr. Tiffany Adelaine Tan said that aside from the new two-story building, another edifice is about to rise that will hopefully be completed within this year or early next year.

"Two reasons for this inauguration are to inform our dear alumni of our achievements of the status of the school of management and also to show you the improved facilities of the (college)," Tan said.

"We are doing this so that you and our alumni would take pride of what we have become from being just a division of the UP-Visayas Cebu College to being a cluster of an autonomous UP College Cebu, then now a College of Management of the UP Cebu," she added.

Tan said the inauguration also highlights their invitation to the alumni to join them in accomplishing their vision to be the premier school of business in Cebu and the Region through partnership with them.

"It is my hope that after this event would be the beginning of an alumni association of the school of management. It is my pleasure to inform you that the School of Management is already a college and moving towards accomplishing its vision to be the school of business in Cebu,” Tan said.

University of the Philippines System Executive Vice-President Dr. Teodoro Herbosa and alumni Mr. Francis Sollano and Professor Yvonne Gomos were the special guests in yesterday’s event.

The history of the School of Management started in the beginning of UP Cebu College and the oldest regional unit of the University of the Philippines System recognized by its colorful and exciting past.
