World Intellectual Property Day and National Intellectual Property Rights Month
With a renewed commitment to deter piracy and promote the importance of Intellectual Property rights in the Philippines, the government and the local recording and screen community recently celebrated World IP Day 2017 and National Intellectual Property Rights Month in Makati City.
US Embassy Economic Officer Brian Brehaus, Intellectual Property Office Philippines (IPOPHL) Director General Josephine Santiago, Philippine Association of the Record Industry Chairman Atty. Marivic Benedicto, and iflix Country Manager Sherwin dela Cruz have joined together to announce intensified efforts to prevent piracy, illegal cam-cording and other violations of Intellectual Property Rights, and urged everyone to continue patronizing legal means of consuming content to protect the livelihoods of the many thousands of professionals in the recording and screen community.
Director General Santiago also invited everyone to participate in the other upcoming programs and activities of IPOPHL, particularly World Book and Copyright Day today, April 23, and World IP Day on April 26.
