“Drug surrenderer” shot dead, companion severely wounded
A drug surenderer was killed while his companion was severely injured after two men onboard a motorcycle shot them in Upper Calajoan Minglanilla, Cebu Saturday evening.
The police identified the slain victim as Joey Go, 32, of Riverside Kalubihan, Upper Calajoan, and Shawn Benson Sedeno, 26, a habalhabal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver and a resident of Kalubihan, Upper Calajoan.
Initial police investigation showed that the victims were just whiling away time around 11:30 p.m. when a motorcycle with two men whose faces were concealed with bonnets arrived and without any provocation started shooting at them.
No one could identify the two men and no one was able to take note of the motorcycle's registration number.
Go and Sedeno, who were both hit in the head, where rushed to the South General Hospital in neighboring City of Naga but Go died before reaching the hospital while Sedeno remains in serious condition.
Minglanilla Police Chief Dexter Calacar told The FREEMAN that one possible motive they were looking into is the victims' alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
He said Go was a drug surrenderer last year while Sedeno was a newlyidentified drug personality.
Calacar said they would conduct further investigation into the incident, revealing that the two men used a .357 revolver in the attack.
