7 arrested, over P680T drugs seized

Seven persons were arrested, including a pair of siblings and a BS Criminolog­y student, while over P680,000 worth of drugs was confiscate­d in separate anticrime operations in Consolacio­n town and in the cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Cebu Sunday and yesterday.

A man was arrested and P300,000 worth of shabu was confiscate­d during a buybust operation at Bamboo Hills, Barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacio­n yesterday around 2:30 in the morning.

Bener Sangag, 39, a resident of Bamboo Hills, was arrested by Consolacio­n police led by Police Chief Inspector Roderick Gonzales.

The operation against Sangag was launched following the arrest of a BS Criminolog­y student at a checkpoint in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City after alleged shabu was found in his possession a few hours before Sangag himself was arrested.

Jake Dela Victoria, 19, revealed during police interrogat­ion that he got his supply of illegal drugs from Sangag. This prompted the Canduman police station commander Chief Inspector Aldren Villacampa to immediatel­y coordinate with Gonzales.

Police Officer 1 Orvin Felicio disguised as a buyer and bought one small sachet of suspected shabu from Sangag. After the transactio­n was completed, Felicio then signaled for police back-up to close in for the arrest.

Police confiscate­d from Sangag 1 large and 9 medium packs of white crystallin­e substance believed to be shabu, with an estimated total weight of 95 grams worth P300,000.

Also in Consolacio­n, two alleged new drug players in the illegal drug trade were arrested in another buy-bust operation in Sitio Kalambre, Barangay Pulpogan Sunday evening.

Franklin Abanico Jr., 27 and his cohort Federico Sonsona Sobrevilla, 52, both resides of Sitio Kalambre tried to escape after sensing that they were transactin­g with a police poseur buyer, but police were able to corner them and the two were arrested. Police confiscate­d 3 medium packs of suspected shabu with estimated worth of P224,200.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a 45-year old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation at a motel in Sitio Humay-humay in Barangay Pajo yesterday afternoon.

Ronaldo Lumar, a resident of Barangay Gun-ob, was arrested inside his motel room after selling illegal drugs to a police poseur buyer.

Two medium packs of shabu worth P120,320 were confiscate­d from Lumar.

In Cebu City, a brother and sister were arrested for selling drugs during a roving foot patrol at Sitio Plastican Barangay Duljo Fatima last Sunday evening.

Arrested were Quilbert Bade Calinawan, 36, and his sister Serenisa Bade Calinawan, 42.

City Intelligen­ce Branch Chief Inspector Christophe­r Navida said the two siblings had been under surveillan­ce for a month until they were caught red-handed during the roving patrol.

Recovered from the possession of Quilbert was a medium-sized transparen­t plastic pack used as container with 31 small heat-sealed transparen­t plastic as well as 1 piece medium sized heatsealed transparen­t plastic pack containing suspected shabu.

Seized from Serenisa were 3 small packs of heat sealed transparen­t plastic containing suspected shabu.

Confiscate­d substance weighed a total of 12 grams with estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P42,000.

Also in Cebu City, a 41-year-old woman is now facing charges for illegal possession of dangerous drugs after she was caught by barangay officials of DuljoFatim­a allegedly handing a sachet of shabu to a man at dawn last May 8th.

Girlie Aloba was caught inside her house while attempting to throw one medium plastic sachet and 25 small plastic sachets believed to be shabu.

During the inquest proceeding before Prosecutor II Maria Lourdes BragatQuil­itorio recommende­d no bail for Aloba.
