At least 13 empty packs of suspected shabu, drug and gambling paraphernalia were confiscated from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center during a greyhound operation yesterday.

Authorities also seized a brand new laptop, bladed weapons and mobile phones.

Roberto Legaspi, acting jail warden, said that confiscated items will be submitted to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. Legaspi said he was happy to learn that no shabu was seized during the search.

“These definitely were in. Those were here for a long time as we can see most of the phones were gubana. We are going to submit these to PDEA, and at least we are happy nga wala’y shabu nga nakuha, just empty sachets,” Legaspi said.

Legaspi said they have conducted search operation inside the cell of suspected drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro. No drugs were found except for three rolls of tin foil. Legaspi added that they will continue to conduct greyhound operation in the days to come.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale said she will look into how those illegal items were smuggled inside the provincial jail facility.

“Duna nakuha nga mga contrabands, wala nakuha nga shabu pero naa mga empty sachet. Of course kung naa nakit-an nga mga empty sachets meaning duna pa gihapon nakalusot,” Magpale said.

On the other hand, Legaspi has clarified reports that a certain Rockie from CPDRC is supplying drugs outside. He said there is no inmate by the name of Rockie inside the provincial jail.

“Actually the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) were present here to also see who’s this certain “Rockie” but there is no “Rockie” in CPDRC so that’s false information,” Legaspi said.
