Primary school opens new branch in Mingla

- Carlo S. Lorenciana,

A primary education school is opening its second branch in Minglanilla, Cebu as it sees an increasing need for primary education in Cebu.

Ava Rosello, vice president for president at Tutelage Learning Center (TLC), said in an interview Thursday that the demand primarily comes from young families whose parents are working in the BPO (business process outsourcing) industry.

"Demand for child care at a young age is there," said school director Riza Sorbito.

The school is set to open its second branch in Pakigne, Minglanilla this August as it considers the abundant growth of families in the area.

Its main branch in Kasambagan, Cebu City has currently around 100 young students and 14 teachers.

Rosello said with the implementation of the K to 12 system, there should be demand for pre-school and primary education.

"Under the K to 12, children must finish kindergarten before they can proceed to grade school," she said.

She also shared the school's plan to offer high school education two years from now as part of its response to the K to 12 implementation.

She added that looking ahead, their school is also planning to expand in northern Cebu or in LapuLapu City as they also see the potential in these areas.

TLC was founded in 2006 and has employed a progressive learning approach where it provides both academic and life skills to mold children into wellrounded individuals.
