1,146 resolution­s, 120 ordinances approved by Mandaue Council

The Mandaue City Council has approved 1,146 resolution­s, enacted 120 ordinances and held 44 sessions from July 2016 to July 2017.

"The city is strong and healthy and political leadership is solid and united," said Vice Mayor and Carlo Fortuna in his message during the council's recent inaugural session.

Councilor Nenita Layese has the highest number of ordinances authored with 42.

She is followed by Councilor Elstone Dabon (15), Councilor Nilo Seno (14), Councilor Kevin Cabahug (12), Councilor Carmelino del Mar, Jr. (9), Vice Mayor Fortuna (8), Councilor Demetrio Cortes, Jr. (8), ABC President and Councilor Ernie Manatad (7), Councilor Cynthia Remedio (4), and Councilor Malcolm Sanchez (1). Councilors Elmer Cabahug and Benjamin Basiga have not sponsored any ordinance.

Councilor Kevin Cabahug has authored the most number of resolution­s (44) that were approved.

He was followed by Seno (38), del Mar (29), Remedio (28), Cortes (27), Fortuna (24), Leyese (21), Elmer Cabahug (20), Dabon (19), Sanchez (18), Manatad (14), and Basiga (1).

In addition to these, over 800 motions were passed on the floor during sessions.

It was also reported that majority of the council members had been present in their 54 sessions.

Fortuna also cited their accomplish­ments on the signing of memorandum of agreements and contracts with various groups and agencies.

Ordinances on health, social services, transporta­tion, education, infrastruc­ture developmen­ts, anti-illegal drugs among others were among those that were enacted.
