LTFRB suspends apprehension order vs. 'colorum' Grab, Uber
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Friday said it will put on hold its apprehension order against colorum units of Grab and Uber following their filing of motions for reconsideration.
"On the part of the filing of the MRs by both TNCs, this is a legal right that affected parties may opt to take once a decision has been rendered and becomes final," LTFRB board member Atty. Aileen Lizada told reporters.
"The filing of the MR technically holds in abeyance or suspends the effectivity of the July 11, 2017 order, as the board now needs to address - or it needs to treat the motion for reconsideration - before it can judiciously dispose of the main case," Lizada added.
Transport Network Companies (TNCs) Grab and Uber on Friday filed separate motions for reconsideration asking the LTFRB not to implement its apprehension order on vehicles operating without necessary permits.
The LTFRB on its July 11 order directed the TNCs to "cease with dispatch the operations of all their TNVS which do not have the required Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Provisional Authorities (PA)."
The crackdown against colorum vehicles was supposed to begin on July 26. However, it was effectively put on hold after both TNCs filed MRs.
The board earlier slapped Grab and Uber with a P5-million fine each for failing to comply with various violations of terms and conditions of the Certificate of TNC accreditation under the Memorandum Circular Number 2015-016.
Both TNCs concede they have allowed their drivers to operate even without CPC or PA. (GMA News
