COSAP to use films vs drugs

“We came up with this idea kay mas nindot man gud because with the advance of the technology karon, mas maayo man gud nang moving pictures. Through this, people will see and be able to visualize the ill effects of illegal drugs, specially the youth and the whole community as well, rather than usual symposium and seminars,” said Garry Lao, COSAP head.

Lao said COSAP will have the right to use the submitted materials for the information and educational campaign in the schools and barangays.

With the theme “The Horrors of Drug Abuse and their Impact on Families and the Community,” the contest is open to all individuals whether professional or amateur.

Entries shall depict the horror of drug abuse that may be based on reallife stories, fiction, or a drama documentary. The language use in the film shall be mainly CebuanoVisayan and not shorter than 7 minutes or longer than 15 minutes.

“Pwede og estudyante, school-based, communitybased, barangay-based ang moapil as long as you are interested,” Lao said.

Application forms are available at the COSAP office and the deadline for the application of entries will be on August 25, 2017. The deadline for finished film entries is on October 31, 2017.

The winner will receive P 50,000 cash and entries will be judged in time for the Anti-Drugs Awareness Month on November.

“I hope nga through the film nga ma-produce o mahimo sa atong mga filmmakers, mapakita nila ang tinuod nga mga panghitabo sa siyudad with regards to drugs and then nindot kaaayo ni siya nga venue to expose Cebuano talents,” he said.
