These I believe

-

Are you familiar with Elvis Presley's "I Believe"? I had the chance to listen to the song again the other day. The lyrics reverberated in the core of my inner being.

“I believe for every drop of rain that falls a flower grows;

I believe that somewhere in the darkest night a candle glows;

I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come to show the way;

I believe, I believe…”

Like the lyrics of the song, I also have my own beliefs. I would like to share them with you.

•I believe that upon waking up, if you say your morning prayer and thanksgiving before doing anything else, your day will be completed and you are on the right track. There’s nothing like making God the first priority of our day.

•I believe that life is an echo. What you sow is what you reap. Whatever good deeds you do will always come back to you. Maybe not right away, but in God’s own time. Likewise, in the same manner, when you hurt and harm others, you will also suffer the consequences of your actions.

•I believe that the people whom you meet along the way of life is not accidental. But it has a reason and a purpose. Either, they may teach you a lesson or they give you the opportunity to grow.

•I believe that life isn’t fair always. There are people who are better than you or worst than you. Whatever situation we are in, we have to be thankful to the Lord of what we have. Like this story, “A man was grumbling and whining because he had no new shoes; until he saw a man who had no feet.”

•I believe that life has its ups and downs. It’s like a wheel. Some days are good and some days are bad. No matter what, what counts is our attitude and our reaction to the situation.

•I believe that those who honor and love their parents, “goodies” are coming their way. Exodus 20:12 says, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land of the Lord your God is giving you. The priest said in his homily that this is the only commandment of God that has a bonus. Let us show our love and care to our parents while they are still alive.

•I believe that no matter how difficult or challenging the situation we are facing, we have to trust in the Lord’s mercy and kindness. Proverbs 3:5-6 declares, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.

•I believe that God is the conductor in the orchestra of living. All we have to do is to put our complete trust in Him and not on people. People may betray us, but God never changes and is always on our side.
