The awesome power of prayer

-

When things are overwhelming and the road of life is so rocky, there’s nothing like asking God’s help and mercy.

Prayer has its awesome power as demonstrated in this story written by Rey Ortega in the Didache Daily Bible Reflections For Catholics. "At a seminar my wife and I attended, the speaker told us to write our dreams. I was poor and jobless

then. The company I worked for had just closed down. My wife was a full time homemaker. So those dreams were really wild. But the speaker told us to pray about them daily and believe God had already granted them.

"That blew my mind. But obey the speaker’s instructions, we did. And so we asked God – and asked again and again. Lo and behold, each and every one of those crazy dreams turned into reality. Ours indeed is a big God and His blessings are limitless. We just have to ask, pray and persist in prayer. So go ahead, ask God.”

I must confess that there are times when I wondered when God would answer my prayer - a petition that I asked for sometime now. But an inner voice within me whispered, “Just be patient and be persistent in your prayer. God’s divine delay doesn’t mean He does not answer your prayer.”

I always remind myself on what Matthew 21: 21-22 declares, “Jesus said, 'Believe me, if you trust and do not falter and you say to this mountain, “Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” even that will happen. You will receive all that you pray for, provided you have faith.”

Here are more inspiring Biblical thoughts that will make us steadfast in our prayers.

Matthew 7: 7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Matthew 21:22, “And whatever you ask in prayer; you will receive, if you have faith.”

John 14: 13-14, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”

Mark 9:29, “And he said to them, 'This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer..”

Ephesians 6:18, "Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplications for all the saints.”

Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 5:5, “Hope will not leave us disappointed, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

Psalms 37:4, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will grant your heart’s request.”
