PDRRMO to transfer valuables into more secured storage area

- Lorraine Mitzi A. Ambrad/FPL —

After an attempted robbery incident last month, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office is eyeing to move their ‘valuables’ stored outside their premises into a more secure storage area.

“Once siguro nga mahuman na ang (storage) adto na na namo ipabutang ang mga equipment. Especially ang kanang mga equipment nga mas mahal pa na sa krudo,” said PDRRMO Executive Assistant Julius Regner.

There is an expansion building of the Provincial General Services Office storage and a bungalow type disasterresilient model building located near the PDRRMO. The office is yet to decide which of the buildings they would transfer their high-value equipment.

For now, the security of the equipment is dependent on the Capitol Civil Security Unit (CSU) guards and the personnel monitoring the CCTVs.

CSU Head Bobby Legaspi urged the department heads of the provincial government to report their valuable property in order to prevent incidents like the attempted robbery to happen again.

“Actually, I was not even aware that there is crude oil inside the compound. I think there needs to be communication between the departments if there’s valuable items so that we can take the extra measures that it is secured after (office) hours,” he said.

Legaspi said that even after Capitol office hours, there are still offices inside the compound that operate past 5 p.m. like CFI.

“There’s still traffic in and out after provincial hours. We cannot dictate their hours. If not cars coming in, then people walking in,” he added.

A certain Erwin Chua was arrested last month after he was caught stealing crude oil from the Capitol compound.

Chua is still detained at the Police Station 2 after he signed a waiver of detention to answer the complaint filed against him before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.
