Froilan Magsalang pumped in 13 of his season-high 19 points in the first half that helped the Baby Lancers estbalish a 53-38 advantage entering the locker room. They went ice-cold in third period, allowing the Baby Panthers to close in at 63-68 but regained their offensive bearing in the final canto to keep their clean record intact.
Biern Laurente and Jhiey Paraldo each scored 12 while Joshua Yerro chipped 10 markers as the Baby Lancers continued to perch atop the leaderboard in the juniors division with an immaculate 7-0 slate.
Later in the day, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles turned to the hot hands of Justin Javelosa to upstage the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters, 66-52, in a grudge rematch of the league's finalists during the past two seasons.
Javelosa finished with 16 points, including seven straight in the third quarter that set the stage for the Magis Eagles' decisive triumph.
The Junior Webmasters came threateningly close at 44-46 but Javelosa unloaded seven straight points that put the Magis Eagles in command for good, 53-44. Christian Manaytay later joined the scoring fray before Patrick Yu knocked in a 3pointer to seal the deal for Ateneo, 6651, with only 1:33 left to play.
Yu and Jed Colonia had 12 points each as the Magis Eagles improved their win-loss record to 6-1.
Virlou Orquez was the lone twindigit scorer with 14 points for the Junior Webmasters, whose four-game winning streak come to an end and dropped to 4-3 overall.— EBV
