-

The Convergys Converters proved that they are not the defending champions for nothing.

The Converters used a lighting attack from the getgo, then fought steadier down the stretch to stun the previously undefeated Teleperformance All-Stars, 62-59, in the Tanduay Athletics CSCC E-Leagues for Basketball Season 13 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Franz Dionne Dysam and Jaime Pacquiao each scored 17, while Aldene Jay Batino contributed 11 points, six rebounds and two steals for the Converters, who immediately jumped the gun on the All-Stars to take an early 20-8 lead. They then stymied repeated comeback attempts by the All-Stars to squeeze out a three-point win.

The Converters, thus, improved their record to 7-1 (win-loss), while the All-Stars, led by Mon Xavier Dico with 12 points and six rebounds, suffered their first loss after an impressive 8-0 start.

In the other games, Archie Batua dished out 13 points on top of four rebounds and two steals as the Accenture Sharks whipped the Wipro Tigers, 7262, to earn a share of Elite Classic lead with Teleperformance on identical 8-1 win-loss cards, while Jhoneil Geraldizo sparkled with 20 points as the Sykes Pioneers walloped the Telstra Boomerangs, 86-64, for their second straight victory after dropping their first seven games.

Ryan Miano and Junas Marion Misa had 22 points in between them for the Sharks, who were never seriously threatened after racing to a 16-4 start. Pol Alfeche notched 20 points but could not prevent the Tigers from absorbing their fifth loss in nine games.

Sherwin Anghay finished with 18 points for the Pioneers, while Cris DarylYap tallied 16 points for the Boomerangs, who slipped to their eighth loss against only one win.

In the Evo League, King Luigi Olbes had 20 points and eight rebounds, while Robert Rebaño banged in 17 points as the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties edged the Teletech Titans, 61-53, stay stay on top of the heap with an 8-1 slate. The Titans fell to 3-5—EBV
