Two armed men were intercepted by the operatives of Cebu City Public Safety Company (CPSC) during a patrol operation in an upland barangay in Cebu City yesterday morning.

Adrian Cabriana, 33, and Etlio Cañeda, 23, both residents of Sudlon II, were arrested for illegally carrying firearms in Sitio Patag, Barangay Bonbon.

Police Superintendent Timmar Alam, CPSC chief, said that while they were patrolling the area, they noticed the two suspects acting suspiciously.

As the operatives approached the suspects, one allegedly tried to draw something from his hip where they later found a weapon concealed.

Recovered from Cabriana was a .45 caliber pistol with several live ammunitions, while a .38 caliber pistol with several live ammunitions was taken from Cañeda.

The suspects said that they were carrying firearms for self-defense.

Investigation showed that Cabriana was among the surrenderers in Barangay Sudlon II last July.

Alam said Cabriana has been hiding in Bonbon after he was identified as a high-value target by Mabolo Police Station.

Cabriana denied the allegations against him and said that he already stopped his illegal drug involvement after he surrendered last July.

The two suspects have been turned over to the Mabolo police.
