Muslims express support for police efforts vs crime

The Muslim community in Talisay City has expressed cooperatio­n to the city’s police in monitoring their activities and also assuring that not one of them is involved in any terrorism and drug-related activities.

Misug Dimaalip, a Muslim preacher signed a certificat­e of support last Thursday to show their cooperatio­n with authoritie­s particular­ly on the issue of illegal drugs.

Dimaalip said he believes that illegal drugs are the mother of all crimes, adding that they will exert effort in supporting police in their operations.

Police Officer 3 Christophe­r Cesa, Police Community Relation (PCR) of Talisay City Police Station, said they are also taking different measures to assure that no terrorist activities will happen in the city, following the Abu Sayyaf presence in Bohol in April.

Hadjie Malik Rasul, head of the Talisay City Muslim community, has also vowed to cooperate with the city’s police force.

Rasul said that there are around 400 Muslim individual­s living in the city, most of whom have small businesses at the Tabunok Public Market. He added that they came to the city to earn a living.

Aside from helping police prevent possible terrorist penetratio­n, Rasul said they will also report any one in the Muslim community if they are involved in the illegal drug trade.

“Ang mga Muslim dito full support. Sobra 20 years na ako dito, wala ring Muslim na involved sa ganyan(illegal drugs). Kung meron man isusumbong na lang,” said Rasul, adding that there are no Muslims in Talisay City who are involved in illegal drugs.
