Balangauan’s team tops Corn Tee golfest

The team led by Baltaire Balangauan bagged the Division A title of the recently concluded Corn Tee of Club Filipino Incorporad­a de Cebu, which was played at the club’s course in Pulangyuta, Danao City.

Balangauan scored identical rounds of 39 points while junior golfer Angela Mangana shot 38 and 35, Andrew Cañete fired 36 and 42 and Pio Barandog made 40 and 45. The team fired rounds of 153 and 161 for a total of 314 points.

The tournament used the full-handicap Modified Stableford Scoring System with all four members of the team counting for the team total. The Corn Tee is CFIC’s annual signature tournament.

The Division B title went to the team led by Boboy Durano finishing with 296 points on rounds of 144 and 152.

Durano made 38 and 39, Byeon Kwang Wook had 37 and 34, Jose Abellana 41 and 39, and Julie Garcia shot 28 and 40.

Runner-up honors for Division B went to the team led by Razi Razon with a total of 295 points (141-154).

Razon made 34 and 40. His teammates were Rolando Alberto (33-40), Loloy Sabuga (32-37), and Noel Abad (42-37).

Another team led by Durano also topped Division C with a total of 302 points.

Since club members are allowed to have more than one team, they will play only two rounds during the four day period and their score for all their teams will be the same.

Durano had 38 and 39, Dennis Wong 42 and 42, Kevin Durr 30 and 35, and Carlos Claur 36 and 40.

Runner-up honors went to the team of Chandran Rama with 300 points. Rama scored 40 and 39, Ting Creus 38 and 36, Lorie Alburo 35 and 35, and Fred Jumaya 43 and 34.

Individual awards went to Jun-jun Cabajar for the lowest gross and Johnah Abella for the lowest net.

The tournament was backed by Plantation Bay, Petron, Genvi Developmen­t Corp., Carlos Gothong Shipping Lines, Duros Land Properties, Cebu Mitsumi Inc., Pagcor Mactan, Pepsi Cola, and Koppel.
