Highlights of Philbex Cebu 2017

The 14th Philippine Building and Construction Expo (Philbex) Cebu 2017, at the SM City Trade Hall Cebu, runs on its last day today. The three-day fair features pocket events, exhibitors, young designers’ competition, and convention talks by locals and international speakers. This year’s event theme is “Building Bolder Perspective.”

First VisMin Conference of the Philippine

Institute of Interior Designers (PIID)

The conference, conceptualized by designers from Mindanao, Cebu, Eastern Visayas, Panay, and Negros chapters, has the theme – “Designing Inclusivity,” which focuses on people’s diversity and the way it impacts design decisions. The conference schedule includes talks by design professionals from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The topics cover innovative spaces for healthcare, transforming design, appreciating design

heritage, and the beauty of bamboo as a natural wood.

Projeto: Furniture Design Competition Cebu

The Projeto Furniture Design Competition culminates today, after a three-day display of scale- model entries. The competition is intended to catapult young local talent into strong careers and design paths. Five teams from the Visayas region – who’ve all been tasked to create a modern-day stand-alone reading nook with storage provisions – vie for the grand prize. The prizes include cash and gift certificates.

A thoughtfully-curated selection of exhibitors introduces products and services that are sure to elevate building, design, and living concepts. The gallery features the latest in building and design materials, equipment, construction services, interior design and renovation, security and fire protection, mechanical and electrical engineering, information technology, and telecommunications. Various top-notch architectural firms showcase their works: Nueast Arkitecture; AC Barrera Architects; Espina, Perez-Espina & Associates; United Architects of the Philippines; and interior designers Ryan James Mantuhac, Shiela Gumba, Rosette YabutArnaldo, Jonathan Fortu, and Maria Isabella RoblesGo. The designers are the PIID presidents of the Cebu, Eastern Visayas, Mindanao, Negros, and Panay chapters, respectively. Government and private institutions, associations, interior designer services, construction promotion, and architectural services are also showcased.

Philbex Cebu 2017 is presented by Worldbex Services International. The event is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
