Policemen conducting simultaneous mobile patrols from 10 in the evening until four in the morning spotted the minors in the streets of Barangay Poblacion, Yati, San Vicente, Cotcot, Jubay, Catarman, and Tayud.

The rescue is in line with the local government unit’s strict implementation of the curfew ordinance for minors to prevent petty crimes and frat wars from occurring.

According to Police Officer 3 Renato Pendo, desk officer of Liloan police station, the municipal ordinance is being strictly implemented after a recent incident involving fraternities.

He said that a coordination meeting with the local government units called for an action plan to prevent retaliations.

Pendo pointed out that the implementation of the curfew will also help deter any form of incidents involving minors. Pendo added that some minors are being used as drug runners by some drug personalities.

“Dili malikayan nga ang mga minors gamiton sa drug-running. Kini atong curfew, dugay na nga municipal ordinance karon lang gibutngan og strict implementation to prevent frat-related incidents aron wa nay baw-baws,” Pendo said.

All minors who were caught violating the said ordinance have been turned over to the municipal social welfare officer represented by Mr. Franco Alinton who gave them an orientation before they were turned over to their parents and immediate guardians.

Pendo explained that the first offense against the municipal ordinance carries a penalty of verbal warning. After the second offense, social workers and the barangay executives might require those who are caught to do community service.
