Capitol pours millions worth of services in Oslob town

The Cebu Provincial Government gave P3.3 million worth of assistance to the 27 fishermen and farmer associatio­ns of various towns in South Cebu during its "Serbisyo Karaban" yesterday.

Governor Hilario Davide III, together with the Capitol Department heads, distribute­d equipment to the farmers and fishermen in a gym in Oslob, Cebu.

The equipment for the fishermen amounts to P969,000, while the sprayer and plastic drums cost P238,000.

The farmers, on the other hand, received agri-inputs or planting materials, which cost P296,000 and check from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporatio­n (PCIC) worth P80,351.

The farmers and the fishermen who went to the caravan mostly came from the towns of Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Santander and Samboan.

The provincial government also distribute­d sports equipment to the public high school students in Oslob worth P300,000.

“Ato ni gihimo para mas duol alang sa atong mga kaigsoonan ang serbisyo sa Probinsya,” Davide said.

Davide also spearheade­d the inaugurati­on of a two-story building at the Looc Elementary School worth P1.5 million.

Department heads of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Environmen­t and Natural Resources (PENRO), Provincial Tourism, Provincial Informatio­n Office ug Provincial Youth Commission conducted seminars as part of their service caravan.

Lawyer Ramil Abing, executive assistant of the Capitol, said they have chosen Oslob to be their venue because the town is far from the city.

Aside from the farmers, the provincial government also distribute­d new steel canes for the senior citizens and wheel chairs to persons with disabiliti­es.

Several services including dental and optical mission, blood donation, legal consultati­on were also conducted the whole day to cater to the needs of the public in terms of health and wellness.

Oslob is the third town to host the "Serbisyo Karavan" of the provincial government this year.

The islands of Bantayan and Camotes were the previous recipients of the government’s Serbisyo Karaban.
