Woman, 33, dumped in subdivision
A female lotto outlet caretaker was found dead on the street just 20 meters away from her house at Camella Homes Phase 3B in Barangay Linao, Talisay City yesterday morning.
Two hours after the discovery of the woman's body, she was identified as Mae Albasin, 33 years old.
Albasin bore gunshot wounds to her left thigh, abdomen, and right arm based on the report from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO). She was already dead when her body was left in the area, police said.
Superintendent Jason Villamater, chief of Talisay City police, said an unidentified man on board a white Ford Ecosport sports utility vehicle was seen dumping the victim's body at the place at around 9:26 a.m. yesterday.
Minutes later, the station received a dead person alarm.
A certain Virgie Sambuang, who was then walking on the road, saw the victim's body sprawling on the roadside.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind Albasin's killing, although one of the angles being pursued is the reported misunderstanding between the victim and her commonlaw husband.
Villamater said the police will invite the victim's common-law husband, who is considered a person of interest. However, he did not reveal the man's identity.
According to initial investigation, the man is a senior citizen who is in his 60s or 70s.
Remy Lugan, Albasin's mother, positively identified Albasin.
At the site, Lugan broke to tears, growls, and scream at the sight of her dead daughter.
Lugan said her daughter has been separated from her legal husband for years, and they have a nine-year-old daughter.
Meanwhile, Albasin's relationship with her common-law husband has been going on for six years.
A closed-circuit television camera at a nearby house was able to capture the SUV. Unfortunately, it had no plate number, only the words “For Registration” written on the vehicle's plate.
Personnel from Talisay Rescue Emergency Action Team (TREAT) went to the area but declared that Albasin was already lifeless.
Nelda Demiar, one of the victim's neighbors, said Albasin just recently moved in the neighborhood.
Demiar told the police where the victim was staying.
Another neighbor, Nardo Baldado, said he has been seeing a white Ecosport without plate number frequenting Albasin's house but he was unsure whether it belonged to the victim's common-law husband.
Villamater said further investigation will be conducted. Police will also look for other CCTV cameras that may have recorded the incident.
