Cebu to ink pact with Singapore groups
The Cebu provincial government is set to sign tomorrow morning a memorandum of understanding with the Singapore’s Temasik Foundation, Republic Polytechnic (RP), and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) on a "Strategic Framework for Tourism and Hospitality Management Program.”
Cebu Provincial Tourism Officer Joselito “Boboi” Costas said the program would enable tourism stakeholders of Cebu to learn from Singapore, particularly its best practices in terms of hospitality and in the tourism campaign.
The signing will be held at the Capitol Social Hall with Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo, Singapore Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Scott Loh.
The event will start around 9 a.m., wherein Cebu Governor Hilario Davide will deliver his keynote speech, while Teo will give her welcome address.
RP Principal and CEO Yeo Li Pheow and Temasek Foundation International CEO Benedict Cheong will each also deliver a speech prior to the contract signing.
After the signing of the MOU, Bong Bengzon, DOT Undersecretary for Tourism Planning, will give a briefing on the Philippine Tourism Roadmap, while James Lee, director of RP’s School of Hospitality, will discuss Singapore’s best practices on hospitality management.
RP and TP are both leading institutions in Singapore that offer diploma, full and part-time courses involving events and hospitality, management and communication, information communication, sports, health and leisure, arts, and technology.
Temasek Foundation International, on the other hand, is a Singapore-based nonprofit philanthropic organization that funds and supports programs with a purpose of building communities and capabilities across Asia.
