Seno, Nocos shine in CitiGreen netfest

Jan Godfrey Seno and Tiffany Claire Nocos emerged as the biggest winners in the 2017 CitiGreen Junior Tennis Cup yesterday at the CitiGreen Tennis Resort in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

Bogo City’s Seno, who missed the first editions of the tournament, dominated the boys 18 division as he defeated Jose Maria Pague of Zamboanga City, 6-1, 6-0.

Seno claimed his second title in the doubles alongside Marc Nicole Suson. The Seno-Suson tandem upended Pague and Duma Hakim Baloto, 8-4, in the finals.

Nocos, for her part, snared the girls 12 and 14 crowns. She scored an upset against Casey Padilla, 63,6-3, to retain her girls 12 title, then defeated Corazon Lambonao, 6-2, 6-4, in the girls 14 action.

Lambonao bounced back as she won the girls 14 doubles together with Phel Hazel Coderos. Elizabeth Abarquez, for her part, defended her girls 16 title against Pherl Bless Corderos, 6-2, 6-2.

Ghylliana Yu and Ellaine Rose Bahonsua topped the girls 18 doubles by outsmartin­g Abarquez and Coderos, 8-4.

VJ Canete took home the unisex 10-under title after beating Gio John Manito Tabura, 4-2, 4-0, while Al-Rasheed Lucman and Abdel Qadzri Matarul snared the doubles championsh­ip over Gio John and cousin Aaron Tabura, 8-4.

The rest of the winners were Stephen Zion Guia (boys 16), Jannelle Carmela Llavore (girls 18), Brent Cortes (boys 14), Rupert Tortal and Nash Augustine (boys 14 doubles) and Gavin Kraut (special unisex 8-under).—
