Five policemen in Talisay City were relieved from their posts for allegedly extorting from a motorist.

Police Supt. Virgilio Bayonon, chief of the Police Community Relations Office of the Provincial Police Office, confirmed the relief. One has received the relief order but the other four have not, as of yesterday.

Bayon-on said the five will be charged administratively and will be assigned at the CPPO Personnel Holding Account Unit while investigation is ongoing.

“Base sa atong information nga nadawat, naa silay derogatory records mao na, sa atoa, mu-conduct ta’g investigation kung unsa ka tinuod kanang mga aligasyon batok nila,” Bayon-on said.

The motorist who requested for anonymity said the five cops demanded money from him and confiscated his motorcycle even if he has complete documents for the vehicle. He filed his complaint before the intelligence division of the Police Regional Office (PRO) - 7.

Talisay Police chief, Chief Supt. Jason Villameter, said he welcomes the investigation into his men.

“Oo naman. Sinabi ko naman din yun. Hindi natin iko-cover up yung personnel natin kung may involved sa maling practice… hindi natin i-cover up, pero syempre, iimbestigahan natin kasi nakakasira yun sa Talisay Police Station pag may tao tayong involved sa kalokohan,” Villameter said.

Bayon-on said it will not be easy replacing the five.

“Ang Talisay is dako gud na, so maibanan ang personnel plus dako nga area, and daghan og problema,” he said.

“Kung asa nga station ang ibanan, itapak sa kulangan, tanang station kulang gyud og pulis,” he added.
