The police say they now have possible suspects in the shooting and wounding of a policeman assigned to the Pardo Police Station last Thursday evening along N. Bacalso Avenue in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.

“May tinutukan silang possible suspect. And Talisay City police is now currently conducting investigation considering na sa area nila nangyari ‘yon,” said Cebu City Police Office director, Senior Superintendent Joel Doria.

Police Officer 1 Feliciano Yballe, 28, was wounded in the shoulder after being shot by unidentified men riding on three motorcycles.

Yballe was reportedly on his way home after conducting surveillance investigation in the area when he was shot. He tried to return fire but the assailants quickly sped off.

He was unable to recognize the assailants because they were wearing full-face helmets and the area where the attack took place was dark.

Doria said it is possible the attack was drugrelated as Yballe is assigned to Drug Enforcement Unit of the station.

“Active siya sa operation sa illegal drugs, so definitely maraming masasagasaan considering also the volume sa na-arrest until now,” Doria said.

Talisay City police chief, Superintendent Jason Villamater, said that while they are now looking into his policework as possible motive for the incident, they are also not discounting that the motive can also be personal.

“We will not discount the angle kung may personal, pero as of now work-related ‘yung tinitingnan natin baka kasi sa trabaho niya sa Cebu. Baka may nasasagasaan siyang mga drug personalities,” said Villamater.
