Rep. Yap is Bohol’s wealthiest solon

TAGBILARAN CITY — Representa­tive Arthur Yap, of Bohol's third district, is the richest congressma­n of the province, although he is 135th among the country's 295 legislator­s, as shown in the latest Statement of Assets, Liabilitie­s, and Net Worth (SALN) submitted to the Lower House.

Yap has a total asset of P47,700,400 against P16 million liabilitie­s, resulting in a net worth of P31,700,400.80, next to Rep. Vincent "Bingbong" Crisologo (1st dist., Quezon City), who at 134th has a net worth of P32 million, and only P200,000 richer than Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco (Marinduque), who at 136th had a net worth of more than P31.5 million.

Among Bohol congressme­n, Rep. Rene Lopez Relampagos (1st dist.) is the 2nd richest, but 144th among House solons, with assets of more than P31.5 million against P1.7 million liabilitie­s, to have a net worth of P29,805,143.39.

Relampagos has nearly as much as Reps. Carlito Marquez (Aklan), who at 143rd had a net worth of P29,805,974.22, and Rep. Napoleon Dy (3rd dist., Isabela), at 145th, who has a net worth of more than P29.27 million.

Representa­tive Erico Aristotle "Aris" Aumentado (2nd dist., Bohol) is the 'poorest' among the three Bohol congressme­n, and at 267th nationwide. He has P9.986 total assets and P4,563 million liabilitie­s to come up with a net worth of P5,345,861.23.

Aumentado follows Rep. Erlpe John Amante (2nd dist., Agusan del Norte), who at 266th has a net worth of P5.97 million, but above Rep. Eugene Michael de Vera (ABS party-list) who at 268th has P5.173 million net worth.

Based on the compilatio­n of all the congressme­n's 2016 SALN, the 10 richest in the country, in terms of net worth, are:

1) Michael Odylon Romero (1-Pacman Party-list) with P7,009 billion; 2) Emmeline Aglipay-Villar (DIWA Party-list) — P1.4 billion; 3) Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (3rd dist., Negros Occidental) — P942.964 million; 4) Imelda Marcos (2nd dist., Ilocos Norte — P917.8 million; 5) Feliciano Belmonte Jr. (4th dist., Quezon City) — P852.132 million; 6) Virgilio Lacson (Manila Teachers party-list)—P768.824 million; 7) Bayani Fernando (1st dist., Marikina City): P738 million; 8) Vilma Santos-Recto (6th dist., Batangas) — P522.616 million; 9) Antonio Floirendo Jr. (1st dist., Davao del Norte) — P491.71 million; and 10) Yedda Marie Romualdez (1st dist., Leyte) — P477.9 million.

SALN is a declaratio­n of assets (i.e., land, vehicles, etc) and liabilitie­s (i.e., loans, debts, etc), including business and financial interests, of an official/employee, of his or her spouse, and of his or her unmarried children under 18 years old still living in their parents’ households, according to the Official Gazette of the Philippine Government.
