Suspect dead after accidental shooting
The top 2 most wanted man of Borbon town bled to death after accidentally shooting himself when policemen came to arrest him Sunday afternoon in Sitio Malibgos, Barangay Bagacay, in Borbon.
Guilly Monleon, of legal age and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Borbon, allegedly shot himself in the left leg after he tried to grab the service firearm of one of the policemen.
Police Officer 2 Rogelio Sinadjan of the Borbon police said Monleon had a pending case in Borbon police for robbery with homicide in 2001 and was the subject of an operation last Sunday.
Borbon policemen joined by operatives of the Regional Intelligence Unit-7 went to serve the arrest warrant for Monleon by Presiding Judge Raphael Yrastorza Sr., of Regional Trial Court Branch 14 in Cebu City.
Sinadjan said that while they were trying to arrest Monleon, he allegedly tried to escape and tried to grab the service firearm of one of the arresting officers, it accidentally went off and he was shot in the left leg.
“Iyang gisuwayan og ilog ang armas sa arresting officer unya accidentally napabuto niya naigo ang iyang paa. Siya ra'y nakapusil sa iyang kaugalingon,” said Sinadjan.
He added that Monleon has been hiding in the mountains after he committed the crime way back in 2001, the warrant was issued for him in 2002 yet.
The suspect was immediately rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival due to severe blood loss according to Sinadjan.
“Bukid man gud kaayo ni ang area unya lisod ang dalan,” Sinadjan said.
The police also received reports that Monleon was also involved in illegal drugs, but they have yet to confirm this.
