The Cebu City government plans to organize the vendors of the city for an orderly observance of the Sinulog Festival this coming January.

Councilor David Tumulak, head of the Sinulog Foundation Inc. executive committee, said they already held a meeting with the vendors to discuss the system. The vendors will be wearing IDs colorcoded to the area where they will be designated to sell.

“Sila sad mismo sa ilang ID asa sila na-assign naay contact number giassign nga dali makatawag kay mao ra nay ilang ikahatag sa city nga tabang, in times of emergency, naay mangunguot, naay badlungon, mga rugby boys, mga hubog sila nga mga sectors dali rang makareport dayon, ang police nga duol ra sad makaresponde,” Tumulak told reporters yesterday.

He said observations made during previous Sinulog celebrations pushed him to come up with this system aimed at preventing human congestion and bottlenecks this coming January.

“Gipang-designate sa mga lain-lain nga mga locations para makatag ang atong mga vendors at the same time ang ato sad mga devotees sayon kaayo nila ang pagsulod ug paggawas sa Basilica apil na niini katong manindahay og kandila, buwak, balloons, tubig, pagkaon kay kining mga pagkaon ato man sad ni silang ipa-seminar sad sa city health department para pud makahibawo pud sila sa food handling, apil sad ini kining fire prevention sa mga mamaligyaay og kandila,” Tumulak said.

All stocks of the city vendors are to be stored in the barangay San Roque gymnasium while vendors from the province have to put theirs in the devotee city.

Gretchen Salve, vice president of the Magellan’s Cross Candle Vendors association, said that they are in favor of the new system of the city government.

“Nindot kaayo ang iyahang pamaagi karong umaabot Sinulog kay we have a color-coding, ID system, pananglitan maninda ka og tubig og unsay color sa imong ID, adto ka didto ma-assign dapita. Magtinabangay mi nga hapsay ang palibot,” she said.

Tumulak is expected to meet other sidewalks vendors in the coming days.
