CSBT toLTO,LTFRB: Inspect buses early

- Phyllis F. Antojado/GAN

The management of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) has asked the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to start inspecting buses inside the terminal next week, in preparation for All Souls' and All Saints' Day.

Jonathan Tumulak, security management head of CSBT, said they have asked the two agencies to check early the buses set to travel before the influx of passengers in the terminal.

As early as next week, the management of CSBT has started its preparation plan for the influx of passengers.

Tumulak said they will implement more or less the same system inside the terminal during peak season wherein passengers have to proceed to the back portion of the terminal where the holding area is located and fall in line while waiting for their bus.

In case the volume of passengers will increase by that time, Tumulak said they will not allow private cars and taxis inside the terminal to give space to the buses and passengers.

When it comes to the security, the terminal would ask additional personnel from the Cebu Provincial and City Police offices to augment the security forces inside and outside the terminal.

Tumulak said, aside from policemen, they will also ask for additional blue guards and Civil Security Unit (CSU) personnel from the Capitol.

"Then mag-request bomb sniffing dogs to check baggage and request sa SWAT nga magconduct og roving from time to time," he added.

The deployment and strict monitoring on security inside the terminal will start on October 27, as they are expecting that number of passengers will increase, until November 2.

Tumulak also urged those who have plans to spend and observe All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day to their respective town and provinces to travel early.
