CYBL U12 and U15 games kick off

Action in the Cebu youth basketball scene continued as games of the Cebu Youth Basketball League 3rd Conference kicked off over the weekend with games of the Under 12 and Under 15 age groups at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Mango Avenue Campus Gym.

In a Division One game of the Under 12 age group. Don Bosco crushed One on One-A, 65-11. In Division One games of the Under 15 age group, Don Bosco scraped past University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation, 56-50; University of the Visayas thumped One on One-A, 99-18; and USC South cruised to a 67-28 win over Abellana National School.

In a Division Two game of the Under 12 age group, USC South defeated PAREF Springdale, 30-21. In Division Two games of the Under 15 age group, Compre Basketball nipped One on One-B, 58-54, while Don Sergio Osmeña Memorial National High School/Labangon won over SCSIT, 64-40.

At the resumption of games of the Under 19 age group, PAREF Springdale rounded up the classifica­tion phase by winning two and losing a game over the weekend. They won over USJR, 54-41, and Abellana National School, 43-34, but bowed to USPF, 62-70.

The Under 19 team standings for Group B have USPF on top with a 4-0 record, followed by WJC Auto Sales (22), Springdale (2-2), USJR (1-3) and ANS (0-4).

In Group A, SHS-Ateneo is the top seed at 4-0, followed by UV (3-1), Toledo (2-2), Compre (1-3) and Ar-O (0-4). The cross-over semifinals pairings are USPF vs. UV and SHS-Ateneo vs. WJC Auto Sales.

The CYBL 3rd Conference is the third major tournament of the Cebu Youth Basketball League for 2017. It is the centerpiec­e tournament of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Region 7 office, and has drawn some 70 teams, spread over four age groups: Under 10, 12, 15 and 19. The Under 12 and 15 age groups have two divisions according to the team’s competitiv­e level. Division One is for the more competitiv­e teams, while Division Two is for the developmen­tal teams.
